Spring is Here to Stay?

What a beautiful Easter Sunday!  We were finally able to do our spring project this weekend which involved putting up privacy panels around our patio and building a raised vegetable garden. Since the 6-8'' of snow from Wednesday melted by Friday morning we were determined to do this rain or shine. It only got to about 50 degrees yesterday and was cloudy & windy but we worked hard and got it done. Today we (and I mean David lol) finished leveling off the garden bed so all we need is the soil :) His buddy/co-worker from landscaping helped on Saturday and we couldn't have done it without him because I couldn't lift most of the pieces.  There are a few final touches we'll be doing in the coming weeks but we love the end result & already enjoyed it this afternoon w/ Annie since it was about 65 degrees.

Emotional Week

Well parenthood only lasted a couple of days for us :( After getting Ruger home it just wasn't a good fit. David and I weren't comfortable with him in the house and he marked constantly (even though he's neutered) and he got one of my plants twice so we constantly had to keep a close eye on him. He's a sweet dog but we knew it just wasn't going to work out. So we had to make a tough decision and call the humane society letting them know we'd be bringing him back but they totally understood. They already had a family lined up that inquired about him the day before we picked him up so he didn't even have to stay at the shelter. We also donated the bed & collar and insisted they keep his adoption fee to put it to good use. He'll be a good fit for his new family because the father is a stay at home dad and home schools his eight year old son so Ruger won't be in a kennel at all or very minimal and will get the attention he'll need to be trained quickly. It all worked out for the best and we'll just continue our joint custody of Annie with mom & dad hahahah :)

We're ready to celebrate with Dave & Jenny tomorrow so we'll post pictures from the shindig on Sunday. Stay tuned..............

Meet Ruger!

We're officially parents..............of a dog :) We enjoy having Annie (mom & dad's cockapoo) over but we never thought we'd actually own our own dog just because we didn't want the hassle of a puppy with our work schedules. We said though, if we ever did get a dog it would have to be a boy and we'd name him Ruger (which is a gun brand and David's first gun-appropriate I know haha). Anyways, a week ago today David stumbled upon our new family member at a local family fun fair event he worked for the police reserves. David was making rounds before the event started doing his meet & greet thing and the humane society was there with pictures of their featured animals, one being a dog named Ruger.  The gal asked if David wanted to add a member to his family and they joked around a little bit and he took a pamphlet and went on his merry way. He mentioned it to me when he got home later that day & we couldn't believe there was another dog with that name but it wasn't until Tuesday that he decided to check this dog out online when he sent me the link while I was at work.  I looked at the pictures and immediately called him and said we've got to have this dog! He's adorable and his name is already Ruger! So I called to see if he was still available before we got too excited and he was so we decided on Thursday when I got done with work we'd go meet him and see what he was like and we'd go from there. Of course we knew when we met him that we'd be filling out the adoption application before we left. The next day we got the call that he was ours! Friday night we bought everything we'd need in order to bring him home on Tuesday when we got back into town. So be prepared to start checking our blog again since we'll actually have something to post. HaHaHa

Notes about Ruger from the humane society:
Sweet Gentleman! Quiet, easy going and laid back. Great listener, good walking buddy and constant companion. Would love to go on walks, cuddle and have a family teach him some tricks!
