Our Baby's New Room

It's official, we've transformed our guest room to a baby room! :O) We gave mom & dad our newer guest bed and sold theirs on Craigslist, which sold the first day! I started thinking what else can I sell?!?! We then went ahead and ordered the baby's crib and changing table online from Target after our last appointment and it came this past Wednesday. It only took about an hour & a half to put both together so the estimated time was actually less then the directions indicated unlike most of those build-it-yourself jobs that turn into hours. HaHaHa

Looks great David :)

Finished Product! Yes, we still need a mattress ;)

My next appointment is at the end of this month which will put me at 16 weeks.  By then I'll be showing and can hopefully start posting regular photos of my growing baby 'bump'. It'll feel more real when others can see that I'm pregnant instead of how Mel described it, looking like you just can't push yourself away from the table.
Today and tomorrow are supposed to be mid 80's then it's supposed to cool off again for the rest of the week which I'm looking forward to because no summer clothing fits anymore so dressing for work is a battle. Mom hit the jackpot at a neighbors garage sale of maternity clothes that are all nice business casual for the fall season so I'm anxious to start wearing those clothes that are a little big then the too snug I have right now.

Pregnancy Update-13 weeks

Wednesday was my second appointment marking the end of my first trimester. We got to meet our midwife, which we both really like, and hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time! David recorded it on his cell phone and I'm so glad he did because it's absolutely amazing. Everything is right on track and looking perfect and baby has a strong heartbeat of 153. Since the midwife knows I don't want to know the the gender of our baby but David does (he'll totally lose that debate since he can't keep a secret haha) she said now the wives tale about being able to determine gender from the heart rate is just that, a wives tale. Which I never bought into but feel free to place your friendly bets with one another :O)
(Click the video clip below to hear our baby's heartbeat!)

I'm feeling pretty good at this point. I still have some nausea but not like the first couple of months and I'm starting to get a little more energy again. I joked if only I could bank my sleep now before baby arrives but I don't think it works that way haha

Saturday we were busy cleaning the house and I asked David if he had read the new catalog we received on Friday from the Packer's Pro Shop. He hadn't yet so I had him quick glance at it because there was a stocking cap I liked...hint hint. Anyways, of course they have a baby section of different Packer fan gear from onesies to booties and bibs. We laughed because they are cute but not something we'd buy ourselves and he said you do realize one of my family members will buy the baby something Packer related. I knew this and said yep that would be your dad. It's as if ears were burning because no sooner did David go out and get the mail we had a package from his dad & Lori with this note.........."A must have wardrobe staple for our new little person-whether we are blessed with a boy or girl"
Thanks Loren & Lori!

A Brennum Bun in the Oven

Saturday, July 16th David & I found out we're going to have a baby!!! We are so excited but it still feels so surreal and probably will until I have a baby 'bump'.

We told parents & siblings right away but waited until my first official doctor's appointment on July 25th to be sure everything was just fine before telling the rest of the family and my bosses at work, which of course everything is perfect and normal according to the doctor. We're still waiting until my second appointment, which marks the end of my first trimester to tell everyone else just to be on the safe side.

I'm eight weeks along and for the most part feeling pretty good. I'm tired most of the time and I feel queasy on and off throughout the day but nothing that makes me run to the nearest bathroom or garbage can hahaha  My next appointment isn't until August 31st so I probably won't have much new to report on me and baby until then. Our official due date is March 12th and it'll be here before we know it the way the last three months have flown by!

Here's our first baby photo! It was amazing to see this in real time and see the flicker on the screen of the baby's heartbeat which was at a strong 135. As the doctor described, the cocktail weiny shape on the left is the baby! Granted that's not the actual size yet just the shape. According to the bump.com the 'How Big is Baby' weekly guide they have compares the baby to fruit and at 8 weeks our baby is now the size of a raspberry....awww.

April & May Showers Bring June Flowers?

What a month can bring! From being ever busy at work to our garden actually growing leaps and bounds I can't believe June is almost over!

Mel and Ryder are coming to visit in less than a week so this weekend means doing a thorough cleaning around the house for a couple of reasons. First, I've been so busy at work I just crash when I get home so I haven't kept up on it and second, Mel has never been here so it has to look good! :)

Our garden has taken off and done so well I actually had to transplant and move some veggies around this morning because they were crowding each other out. Note to self-don't plant all my broccoli seeds at one time! I just sprinkled them around and didn't really "plant" them so I figured whatever grew, great. Now it looks like we'll have it coming out of our ears hahaha I plan on freezing most of it anyways along with most of our garden because we like to have fresh ingredients during the winter.

David went catfishing a couple of weeks ago and brought this home. He called me, waking me up, to come outside and take a picture of him. I had to agree it was a nice fish but it wasn't going to be cleaned/eaten in our house lol. He always catches and releases anyways so after the pictures he put it back in his trunk drove the couple blocks to the river and off he swam for someone else to catch.
