28 Weeks

Thursday I had my 28 week appointment which involved a 1-hour glucose test. I met with a nurse that gave me my lovely flat orange pop-type beverage that I had to drink within five minutes then we went through our birth plan since Mayo Health System has 'Birth by Design'.  Time went by really fast since I wasn't just sitting there waiting around and next thing I knew I had my blood drawn and met with our midwife.

Here's a stats update:
Me: 29 weeks today!
My stats: I've gained 4 lbs since my last appointment 4 weeks ago, so I'm right on track according to our midwife. My glucose level after my test was a 79 (which she said anything under 100 is normal/good) and everything else fell into the normal ranges too. They also checked to see if I had antibodies since my blood type is 'O' but Rh negative. They didn't have those results before I left but my last blood test it showed as negative, so my next appointment I'll get the injection so that my body doesn't build any antibodies in case me & babies blood mix.
Baby: Heartbeat was a strong 156, which is consistent to all the past appointments. Another active boy in the family perhaps??

Likes: 1) Feeling baby move more & more & watching the wave my belly does :)
          2) Working from home now 2 days a week!
          3)  Sitting in my glider with my feet up

Dislikes: 1) Baby sitting on my bladder
              2)  Lower back aches

I'm officially in my third trimester and my appointments are now every 2 weeks! The time is going to fly for sure!  Next appointment: Wednesday, January 4th

Baby Shower

Yesterday afternoon my co-workers threw me a baby shower that we had at mom & dad's house. It was a great afternoon and I really enjoyed myself...and the food :) Mom made carrot cake, a recipe from my brother-in-law Andrew I believe, and boy is that ever good! Although by this point pregnancy is very real-- actually receiving items that we need and getting a start on putting his nursery together made it seem like the big day is fast approaching and not just something we talk about happening in several months.  I kept the gender a secret from all of my co-workers so those that were there yesterday had to guess and whoever guessed correctly received a little prize. Only two guessed boy which didn't surprise me because I've noticed most women tend to assume/wish girl for whatever reason lol Anyways, everyone is excited because the last three babies born to co-workers or their wives were girls :)

Adorable set of receiving blankets & baby blanket

Just relaxing :)

Turkey Day Weekend

We had Thanksgiving dinner at our house again this year with mom, dad, Geri and an added guest, Grandpa Sam! Mom picked him up Tuesday and they got in on Wednesday and she's on her way back right now from taking him back home. We all really enjoyed having him here for a few days to visit, play cards (which he won each time) and play pool which he won that series against dad as well! Go grandpa :) (Sorry dad haha).

David and I went out on Friday late morning to do some of our shopping and because of all the midnight deals, the stores & parking lots were no different than a regular Saturday. (woohoo!)  Since neither of us need or want anything we're keeping it small and simple so we're able to get anything we need for our little man before he arrives because he'll be here before we know it!

The only picture from this weekend is the one I just posted of me at 24 weeks which I had David take on Thursday morning before the cooking began. Looking at it, I sure looked tired and I can't even use the tryptophan as an exuse!

24 Weeks

I can't believe it's almost December! I'm a little behind on posting updates but the time goes by too fast before I feel like I have something worthy of posting but that'll change soon :)  Today's my last day of a 4.5 day weekend so I thought I better be productive. We had our appointment on Wednesday and all looks great! Here's the update:

Baby: He has been increasingly active with punches, jabs or kicks which are the highlight of my days! A couple of weeks ago David was able to feel him for the first time when I experienced the first blow that actually made my stomach move. I joked it was because I was cheering loudly while watching the Monday night Packer game and the kicks were his way of saying "Hey! Keep it down, I'm sleeping!'
Heartrate= 147 but he kicked and moved right then and it jumped to 159 which our midwife said was a good, healthy sign that his nervous system etc is working the way it's supposed to. :)

Me: Overall I feel great and am VERY glad everything is normal and on track for both of us.

Doctor's visit: Next scheduled visit is December 22nd, where I'll have my glucose test and Rh shot.
My Likes: eating (mostly healthy but Christmas cookies are around the corner!), being home and sitting in my new glider rocker (thanks mom & dad!) wearing flat shoes & stretchy pants, love feeling him move

My Dislikes: not being able to stay comfortable sleeping for more than a couple of hours, lower back aches
